Peeling consists in eliminating a part of the epidermis or dermis using chemical products synthesised specifically for this treatment, which is followed by natural regeneration of the tissue. Various mechanical devices can also be used to achieve this effect.
Peeling improves the quality of the skin and increases the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential components for keeping the skin smooth and firm. It is indicated in patients with cutaneous ageing, due either to age or overexposure to the sun, and it enables us to improve and often totally eliminate skin blemishes or small wrinkles or imperfections, giving the skin a new luminosity.
Various types of peeling exist, for use in superficial, medium or deep treatment of the skin. According to the type of problem, and in each particular case, the doctor will recommend one type of peeling or another. The speed of recovery of the skin depends on the type of peeling performed, and the frequency of treatment will depend on both the objective and the substance used in the procedure.
